FAQ

  • When does the program begin?

    • The Pilot program rolls out the spring of the school year 2016-2017 - Specific start date TBD.

  • Where do students report daily?

    • Students report to their internship each week for 25 hours. That schedule is determined between the internship and student -- weekly schedules are required to be submitted to the Option II coordinators to maintain eligibility. Option II Coordinators oversee internships and make site visits.

  • What happens to their regular classes?

    • Students involved in the internship are responsible for completing all work and assignments up to the date their internship begins. Students' grades are then frozen and the final grade reflects the grade to date.

  • How do students apply?

    • Applications with specific guidelines and methods will be released as soon as the final details are determined. (late summer/early fall)

  • Who secures the internship?

    • Students are encouraged to find their own internships with businesses in areas of their career interests. If they encounter trouble, the Option II Coordinators are happy to assist in the search.

  • Are there deadlines?

    • Specific deadlines will be published when determined and strictly adhered to. All internships must be secured by the winter to ensure all the appropriate paperwork is filled out.

  • Can students intern with a family member?

    • No. Students cannot work directly under family members. They can intern at a place of business that a family member works but their mentor (who they report to) must be unrelated to the student.
